Santino William Legan appeared like a “common man,” stated witness Julissa Contreras. He appeared older than his 19 years. However, he did not seem angry as he opened fire on innocent folks at the Gilroy Garlic Festival in Northern California.
Legan dressed the part, stated Contreras, who was standing about 20 feet from the gunman when he started firing a semi-automatic rifle into the crowd.
The 19 year old opened fire at the outdoor festival at around 5:40 p.m. on Sunday, based on Gilroy Police Chief Scot Smithee. Three officers killed him within one minute, killing him, the chief stated, adding that the scene might have to be bloodier if not for the fast response.
Contreras explained Legan as “white and under 6 feet. He was wearing tactical gear, had a baseball cap, sun shades, and he had a semi automatic rifle. He was actually dressed for what he was there to do.”
It was very difficult to read his face, she mentioned, however “he seemed very well-versed in what he was doing.”
“And he appeared confident in his use of the gun.”Members of the band, Tin Man, who had been performing when the gunshots erupted, stated the gunman had worn a green shirt with a gray handkerchief tied around his neck. He sprayed shots from side to side, creating pandemonium, the musicians mentioned. As authorities continue to analyze what led Legan to kill a 6-year-old boy, a 13-year-old girl and a man in his 20s — whereas injuring a dozen others, ranging in age from 12 to 69 — a mixed image of the gunman is emerging.
