The USA stated on Thursday that a U.S. Navy ship had “destroyed” an Iranian drone within the Strait of Hormuz after the plane threatened the vessel, however, Iran stated it had no details about losing a drone.
Within the latest episode to stir tensions in the Gulf, U.S. President Donald Trump advised an event at the White House that the drone had flown to within 1,000 yards of the U.S.Boxer and had ignored “a number of calls to face down.”
“That is the latest of many provocative and hostile actions by Iran against vessels working in international waters. The USA reserves the best to defend our personnel, facilities, and interests,” Trump mentioned.
“The drone was instantly destroyed,” he added.
Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif advised reporters at the United Nations: “We’ve no details about losing a drone today.”
The Pentagon mentioned in an announcement that the U.S.Boxer, an amphibious assault ship, had taken “defensive action” against a drone on Thursday morning because the Boxer was moving into the Strait of Hormuz.
“We do assess it was an Iranian drone,” stated Commander Rebecca Rebarich, a Pentagon spokeswoman.
Tensions within the Gulf region are high, with fears that America and Iran may stumble into war.
